This new 20 footer continues to impress, from consumers to industry experts, the performance is simply amazing. This time PowerBoat Magazine is enamored with this new compact machine. If you haven’t experienced the Wakesetter VTX in person yet, contact us to setup a demo.

(Merced, CA) Malibu Boats received a 6th consecutive Boat of the Year Award from PowerBoat Magazine on April 14th, in Sarasota, FL. The awards were selected after the magazine’s rigorous Performance Trials in Parker, AZ, Sarasota, FL, and San Diego, CA. More than 45 performance boats were evaluated independently by two teams.

This year PowerBoat Magazine Boat of the Year award was granted to Malibu Boats for the Wakesetter VTX.

This honor makes Malibu the only boat company in the history of PowerBoat Magazine to have earned six Boat of the Year awards in a row. Paul Singer, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, accepted the award for Malibu Boats during the Product Excellence Celebration in Sarasota, FL.

Since its inception, the pride Malibu has taken in its products has netted recognition throughout the industry. All told, the company has accumulated 17 Boat of the Year Awards and 24 Product Excellence awards. Yet, the restless spirit and motivation for perfection never stops.

Singer explains this phenomenon, “I have said it before… These awards are a great pat on the back for us, but as soon as the congratulatory high fives are spent, we get right back at it. There are so many more innovations that our engineers are working to perfect. They are competitive by nature and these awards just push them to develop that next industry first.”

The award winners are profiled in Powerboat’s special June issue. To view the Performance Tests online visit PowerBoat Magazine.

Titan, the industry leader in high quality, well designed wakeboard tower and wakeboard tower accessories, was recently sold to Malibu, but the quality and tradition carries on with towers and racks from Menace, also known as Star One.

If you have an Illusion X tower and want the OEM spinners, there are a few left from a pre-sale production run. The racks do not have “Malibu” on the hub band, but otherwise are identical. If you want a high quality rack that offers the increased functionality of being able to access your boards from within the boat, this Spinner wakeboard rack should be at the top of the list.

The few racks still available are offered in our store, or by contacting us, contact us to place your order.

We’ve been using the Wedge since late in 1998, but until recently, Malibu hasn’t patented this exclusive wake making device. That all changed on December 12th, 2006 when Malibu was awarded a US patent for the design of it’s unique Power Wedge wake enhancement and shaping tool. Thanks to this patent, we can ensure the Wedge will remain exclusive to Malibu boats for the immediate future.

Prior to 2004, driving performance was a quantity measured only in a direct drive boat. In 2004, Malibu introduced a new tracking fin that revolutionized the driving and performance experience for Malibu v-drive owners everywhere. That revolution? The Malibu Gorilla Fin.

As Malibu eloquently puts it, “Malibu’s Gorilla Fins enhance the handling stability and tracking capabilities of Sport-V configured boats. Larger surface areas and a more stable center pivot point increase the boat’s overall dynamics and provide direct drive maneuverability”.

So, what does this mean to you? Can you say “Bat Turns”? While taking a turn at break-neck speed and having the ability to toss your total passenger list to the floor of the boat is awesome, it goes far beyond a boat that feels like a Ferrari on the water. You now gain the ability to return to your rider in a sharp, controlled turn in the case of an emergency or to just plain avoid one. Add to that benefit list the vertical stability you would expect out of a boat with that kind of performance. As a rider loads the line and leans into their cut, the Gorilla Fins are digging into the water to keep the boat vertically “locked-in.” The lean normally experienced when a rider makes a strong cut to the outside is a feeling of the past.

So, whether your rider is pulling hard to the outside or you are pushing your Malibu through a tight turn, the Gorilla Fins help your boat maintain its vertical axis and provide the handling and stability you’ve come to expect from a Malibu.

And best of all, Gorilla Fins come standard on all V-Drive boats Malibu produces!

For 2007 Malibu introduced a new version of the manual Wedge to compliment the Power Wedge introduced in 2006. Not only is the new “floating” manual Wedge more convenient to use, it also improves the performance of the boat, and the quality of the wake. We’ve had a lot of questions about how the new Wedge works, so here’s a brief video we put together that details the functionality of the new manual Wedge.

Best of all, the newer Wedge can be retrofitted on any boat with an existing manual Wedge, although both a new bracket and the new foil will be required. If you use the Wedge most of the time, and especially if you wish you would have selected the Power Wedge option, the new floating style manual Wedge may be a worthwhile upgrade.
